Los esqueletos – The Skeletons, a series of 12 large and lively works.
Inspired by El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations that mark every autumn. This series by Weil is inspired by Los esqueletos (The Skeletons), a playful children’s song traditionally used to help youngsters learn their numbers. Exploring themes of life, death and the growing season’s cycle of harvest and decay, the resulting paintings are rich with imagery. With The Skeletons, each surface is transformed into a lively storybook scene that urges viewers to find the balance between darkness and light.
